Dorchester Food Co-op is the only community-owned grocery store within the city of Boston that makes healthy food accessible and advances economic opportunity through neighborhood engagement. With this in mind we are excited to be hiring people that are passionate about local foods, who will provide excellent customer service, and want to be involved with community events. 

We are currently looking to fill several positions, and are having lots of conversations with people around the community about what it will be like to work at and be a part of Dorchester Food Co-op. Our goal is to create a grocery store that encourages healthy eating and also reflects the cultural, racial and ethnic diversity of the neighborhood through our employees, products, and the overall design of the store.

Gain Job Experience & Get Involved

As a fast-paced, busy grocery store, something will always be going on. All of our staff will gain experience in organic foods and have opportunities to constantly build new skills on our mission-driven store operations team. We'll be hosting neighborhood events, embedding ourselves within the community, and you'll get to know the friendly faces you see coming through the door each week. 

Our community is our whole reason for being, and there will always be something going on to participate in and be a part of while working at the co-op. Each and every day will be interesting and bring new experiences. Dorchester Food Co-op has unique opportunities to get involved with community events while also supporting accessibility to healthy foods, education around local food systems and options, and the overall mission of the co-op.

All the employees of Dorchester Food Co-op will be employee-owners, meaning they will have a stake in the company and be part owner of their workplace.

We are hiring a diverse team of people directly within the Dorchester community, as we embrace the multi-faceted neighborhood we call home. There will be entry level opportunities for young people and individuals with disabilities, jobs for returning citizens, as well as part-time positions for elders in the community. Additionally, we hope to not only be the community food hub but also the workplace for many residents of the apartments on the upper levels of our building.

Job opportunities include a range of positions, from department buyers, communications and member engagement professionals, IT specialists and finance and HR staff.
