Urgent: Facing Closure in Two Months, Please Shop to Keep the Dorchester Food Co-op Open

Dear Dorchester Food Co-op Member-Owners,

Please, support what you own: now and each week, the Co-op needs an increase in sales or else the cash reserves for operational costs will run out in two short months!

Here’s what you can do starting today:

  1. Shop Your Values First – Make The Co-op a regular grocery stop. Every purchase grows sales.

  2. Spread the Word – Tell friends, neighbors, and co-workers about our store and mission.

  3. Give What You Can – Make a monthly pledge or one-time donation, for any amount, to help raise $500,000 to supplement sales for the next year. Click & donate any amount!

  4. Order Catering – Choose the Co-op for community-made food for all your events. For catering, call Sandra at (617) 251-6675.

  5. Special Bulk Orders – email info@dorchesterfoodcoop.com , “SUBJECT: Special Bulk Order request” to order products by the case. (*bulk case orders receive a 10% discount.)

  6. Attend the Next Board Meeting: Monday, Sept. 8, 6:30-7:30pm - at the cafe or on Zoom.  See future emails for details

We’ve improved operations to offer better value:

  • Expanded selections & lowered prices: we carry organic, conventional, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sugar, and meat options.

  • SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Double Up Food Bucks accepted.

  • Free community events, cultural programming, and health workshops.

  • Partnerships with local organizations to bring valuable resources into the store.

We believe in a solidarity economy. Everyone is welcome to shop, and with your support, we will be able to keep the doors open longer.

We’re committed to doing everything we can in the next few months. Please join us—shop, share, give, and order catering today.

Yours in service,

The Dorchester Food Co-op Board of Directors
