Dear Members and Supporters of the Dorchester Food Co-op,
We Need You to Shop the Co-op!
One year ago, our store faced a critical moment with only two months of cash runway left. Thanks to our community stepping in, we kept our doors open for another year! Every week, 554 people shop with us, and your support keeps healthy food, decent jobs, and a community gathering space alive in Dorchester.
However, we continue to lose money each month. To reach sustainability, we need to double our monthly sales revenue by the end of the year. We are currently averaging $45,000/month, and our targets are $60,000 by the end of October, $75,000 by the end of November, and $90,000 by the end of December.
If all of our 2,400 member households spent only $70/month at the co-op, we would become a profitable enterprise!
Here is how you can help us reach these goals:
If you shop once a month, visit us twice a month instead.
If you are a weekly shopper, try increasing your purchases by 20%.
Bring friends, join a carpool, or order via Instacart if getting to the store is a challenge.
It's a great time to stop by! Our bulk department is fully stocked, we offer 15% off produce every Saturday, and we offer online catering for your events.
DFC Turns 3! Celebrate our third Birthday this month: bring a friend to shop at the store to receive 10% on Wed. Oct. 14, 2026. Save the Date for a Birthday Party on Sat. Oct. 24, 2026!
